| Anxiously awaited,
the exciting new Scorpa SY250F 4-Stroke was previewed at the
French World Round in June 2005. A number of innovative
features stand out, including the dual under seat exhaust, new
perimeter frame design with cast aluminum pieces joined to
both round and oval tubing, two piece rear fender, carbon
fiber side panels, and heavy duty wrap around skid plate. The
fuel petcock is easily accessible on the right side of the gas
tank, and a choke lever is mounted on the bars above the
clutch lever.
Based on the liquid cooled, double overhead cam, 5 titanium
valve, Yamaha YZ-250F engine, the SY-250F has been heavily
modified for trials. Modifications include trials specific
transmission, camshafts, flywheel, clutch, ignition, etc.
Using Aerospace and Formula 1 technology, the frame uses
chrome molybdenum tubing linked to a forged billet aluminum
sub-frame. The new, 700 gram lighter, swingarm uses
extruded honeycomb billet aluminum linked to a new Paoli rear
shock. The brakes are of a new design, with a 182 mm diameter
floating disc up front, and 150 mm non-floating disc on the
rear. The two new discs have been increased to a 3 mm
thickness to improve braking performance and reduce noise.
For rider comfort, the handlebar mounts and footpeg mounts
include variable positioning, allowing them to be moved
forward and backward, as desired. The entirely new air box
and filter shifts from the traditional foam design, and
instead uses a cotton air filter element borrowed from Formula
1 racing. Without a doubt, the aluminum dual exhaust draws
your attention. The unique design feature utilizes the
exhaust as the rear sub-frame, to add strength and save
weight.
Just as with the SY-250 2-Stroke, Scorpa is offering the
Long Ride tank/seat combo as an aftermarket
Just in case you can't decide between the SY-250F Racing,
and the SY-250F Long Ride, Scorpa has taken care of that
dilemma for you, by making the Long Ride tank/seat unit
available as an accessory unit. You can easily switch back
and forth between Racing & Long Ride configuration, and have
the best of both worlds! |
